General Information

Take a big bite out of your ABOS MOC™ requirements

Area of Focus: General Orthopaedics

The 2008 Orthopaedic Self-Assessment Examination - Scored and Recorded is the most efficient and economical choice to evaluate your knowledge in all the orthopaedic areas and prepare for Maintenance of Certification (MOC™).

Not only does the OSAE help you earn up to 70 of the 120 Category 1 CME Credits™ required every three years for MOC*; it also completely fulfills the 20 credit Self-Assessment (SAE) requirement from a Scored and Recorded source!

With the 2008 OSAE you can:

  • Strengthen your problem-solving and clinical decision-making abilities
  • Compare your performance across all areas of orthopaedics, with that of your peers
  • Identify areas of strength and weakness, using your personalized score report, and plan future study

*CME: Earn up to 70 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™ for reading OKU 9 and completing the scored and recorded examination. The 2008 OSAE, as a standalone program, provides up to 20 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™. You must score better than chance to earn CME credit.

Self-Assessment in MOC™: Credits earned by completing the 2008 OSAE – Scored and Recorded together with either OKU 9 or OKU 1-9 on CD-ROM can help you earn a maximum of up to 70 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™ (of which 20 can be applied toward the Scored and Recorded self-assessment requirement mandated by the ABOS Maintenance of Certification (MOC™) process). All 70 credits will count toward the CME credit requirement.

If you choose to take the 2008 OSAE – Scored and Recorded without OKU 9 or OKU 1-9 on CD-ROM, you can still earn a maximum of up to 20 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credits™ (all of which can be applied toward the Scored and Recorded self-assessment requirement mandated by the ABOS Maintenance of Certification process). All 20 credits will also count toward the CME credit requirement.

ACCME Accreditation: AAOS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in each activity.
